Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Many men and women are choosing to have the Blepharoplasty procedure done. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure to remove fat – usually along with excess skin and muscle – from the upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes – features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision.

When having Blepharoplasty, the individual lines and creases of the lids are marked in order to keep the scars as invisible as possible along these natural folds. The incision is made, and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed and then fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar. You are left with a more alert and youthful look that will last for years. For many people, the results are permanent.

Skin around the eyelid is the thinnest skin on your face and is likely to be the first facial feature to show the signs of aging. Things like bags under the eyes or wrinkled folds of skin on the upper eyelids sometimes make a person look tired and older. People often opt for eyelid surgery when this happens.

Eyelid surgery removes excess skin as well as fat on upper and/or lower eyelids. It is commonly done for cosmetic reasons but it is also known to be done to improve vision if the skin folds interfere with regular vision. Eyelid surgery creates a smoother area around the eyes and gives the face a more youthful look.
